Hello Sunday Morning

Hello Sunday Morning is an existing online space for any Australian to take responsibility and change their own drinking behaviour and by extension, the drinking behaviours of their peers.

Hello Sunday Morning challenges the norm by empowering young people to learn how act confidently in social situations without alcohol.  The program involves each individual making a public commitment to 3, 6, or 12 months without alcohol online. The individual then blogs about how they are achieving the life goals they set themselves in this period and the challenges and positives that they face in their decision. In their blogposts they might discuss a particular challenge or difficulty they came across and how they coped with it, and this blogpost gets sent out to their social networks.

The project started when Hello Sunday Morning founder, Chris Raine, decided to stop drinking to excess and blogged about his experience on hellosundaymorning.com. Quite a lot of people started to become involved in the discussions and came along to events, and a community evolved, people who were looking for similar experiences decided to put their hands up and go through their own hellosundaymorning experience.

The real health benefit comes from someone close to you demonstrating that they can live without alcohol, it is personal and inspiring. It encourages people to take responsibility and the determination to change their own drinking behaviours.

Hello Sunday Morning is a direct response to providing an alternative to the binge drinking culture that exists here in Australia and it's time to see if it can reach a bigger audience with broader impacts.
