Working on Kaurna lands
Lucy’s background in industrial design means she brings a rigorous process to addressing complex social challenges. At TACSI, she works across every stage of our projects to co-plan and co-design solutions, services, principles and policies, and helps implement them to get the best possible outcome.
Lucy supports people’s experience and wisdom and helps turn their ideas of a better world into something tangible. She creates conditions for leadership of people who are often silenced by the status quo, and will always learn so much more from them.
Lucy is passionate about removing obstacles to self-determination of First Nations Peoples and migrant, refugee and other diverse cultural communities. As a white woman, Lucy aims to share power and reduce barriers in the design process and beyond.
She recently supported a co-design group to develop the foundations for the first lived experience led, non-coercive residential place for mental wellbeing and healing in Victoria. Lucy has had the opportunity to partner with South Sudanese Australian young people in Melbourne, creating conditions for them to develop and deliver activities that help their peers thrive. She is also working hard at embedding reconciliation into the practice of TACSI and our partners.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find Lucy embarking on spontaneous hikes around the Adelaide Hills and coast – anywhere where there’s a water view and lots of bird life.
