Barbara Binns (she/her)

Senior Social Innovator - Weavers Implementation Lead

Working on Kaurna Land

From within a 14 year career in education, Barbara sought to understand and challenge the complexities of the education system. Now, as our Senior Social Innovator and Implementation Lead, she supports other organisations to implement peer-to-peer solutions designed and trialled by TACSI. Barbara believes that building communities where mutual support comes from shared experience is critical for families and individuals to thrive.

Quietly persistent with an empathetic approach, Barbara strives to see the world through other people’s eyes. Her glass is always half full, and she loves appreciating the greatness of people.

For the last four years, her focus has been supporting the spread and implementation of ‘Weavers’, a peer-to-peer support model that helps carers manage the ongoing challenges of caring, reducing the stress of caring and increasing wellbeing.

When she’s not at work, you’ll find Barbara spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She also supports others as an end of life doula.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians and Owners of the lands in which we work and live on across Australia. We pay our respects to Elders of the past, present and emerging. We are committed to collaboration that furthers self-determination and creates a better future for all. At TACSI, diversity and inclusion is more than a statement; equality and accessibility are guiding principles embedded in everything we do. We strongly believe that it’s the collective sum of all our communities differences, life experiences, and knowledge that enables both ourselves and our partners to come together to tackle complex social issues. That’s why we’re committed to having a diverse team made up of people with diverse skills from all backgrounds, including First Nations peoples, LGBTIQ+, mature-age people, and people with visible and non-visible disabilities, regardless of sex, sexuality or gender identity.
